The initial detection of GW150914 was made by low-latency searches for generic gravitational-wave transients and was reported within 3 minutes of data acquisition. Subsequently, matched-filter analyses that use relativistic models of compact binary waveforms recovered GW150914 as the most significant event. We present the analysis and the results as well as the parameter estimation and waveform reconstruction that initially identified GW150914 as the merger of two black holes.
