We developed Organic Electro-Chemical Transistors (OECTs) for the selective detection of active bio-molecules in body fluids (adrenaline, dopamine and ascorbic acid). In OECTs, the current flows in a stripe of conductive polymer and is modulated through the voltage applied to the gate electrode by electrochemical reactions that take place in an electrolytic solution. The transistor configuration, fully based on a conductive polymer, allows to obtain low-cost and flexible devices that require low power consumption and a simple readout electronics, enabling the possibility to integrate them as bio-sensors in the daily life of a patient for physiological monitoring.
